Give yourself a gift....MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencils

MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencils came out just a few short months ago, and they haven't gotten enough love. These are lip pencils that glide on very pigmented and smoothly and last for HOURS. I tested one out. I put on the red lip pencil called "Kiss Me Quick" and took a picture when it was freshly applied, and one 8 hours later. I wore just the lip pencil, nothing over top of it or under it so that I could truly test its longevity. It faded some, but it did a remarkable job.

Freshly Applied

After 8 hours of wear.

They come in 10 beautiful shades and are a must-have for my professional kit.
Etcetera
In Anticipation
Staunchly Stylish
More to Love
Kiss Me Quick
What A Blast
Absolutely It
Morning Coffee
Nice n Spicy
Bittersweet

All the shades are must-haves for my kit except for "morning coffee" because it's too much like "nice 'n' spicy" -- the difference is hardly noticeable.

,

the pencils actually look a tiny bit different from the picture above because their colored ends are elongated. like this:

It makes it easy to differentiate from the pro longwear pencils from mac's regular lip pencils. Enjoy!

Happy Artists Day

The artless are the ones that fund the arts !
If you ask yourself why ARTISTS (tattooists, painters, singers, dancers, musicians or anyone who falls under the artist category) charge "so much"... We don't get paid vacation, we don't get paid sick days, we don't get bonuses for outstanding performances nor for Christmas. We don't have insurance plans. We sacrifice our family on special days so that we can bring happiness to others. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for a bad performance. Next time you ask, remember that ARTISTS are ARTISTS because of the love of music & art but that love doesn't pay the bills. Happy Artists Day!!!

Thanksgiving Inspired Ombre Nails

Nothing special, but I've been loving ombre nails recently and thought I'd do a Thanksgiving spin on my nails this week :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

few things I'm thankful for...

1. My Husband and My Marriage

I was blessed with an amazing man who came into my life and made my world for the better. He's the best father, I couldn't have hand-picked someone better. He is so incredibly reliable, giving, humble, strong, and will do anything to see his girls smile.

2. My 3 Darling Daughters

Sicilia (6), Cora (18m), and Zoey (6m). Each one such a different personality and all three beautiful. I love being a mom and having 3 little girls. They make me smile so much :)

3. Having a successful career doing something I love...Makeup!

It took years to get to this point... I'm so thankful for all the experiences I've had within this industry. I've done magazines, movies, tv, news, weddings, runways, and my favorite: teaching. To the aspiring makeup artists out there -- it doesn't happen overnight. There's no magical thing you can do to make it happen quickly. Keep pressing on and practice your patience!!

4. The Phoenician Weather

While there are definitely things about where I live that I'm not fond of, in general, the weather is not one of them. It's November 24th and it's about 78 degrees. I'm not a winter girl. I hate the cold... Sure, Arizona summers are brutally hot, but the other 9 months of the year is sheer heaven.

What are some things you are thankful for?

xo Lauren

Review: Hana 1" Hair Straightener

I'm constantly on the look out for hair straighteners because my hair is VERY curly, especially in the back. I hate it. I don't hate the curls, I just hate how uneven the curl is. The underside is corkscrew curly, the top is just wavy, and all over THICK. My hair is like 2.5 inches thick when I do a tight braid...it's insane. Needless to say, straightening all this thick and stubborn curly hair takes a LONG time.
I came across a Hana pro straightener. It worked good and it goes up to 450 degrees F. which I like because my hair needs HEAT. I wish I had gotten the 1.5 inch because I think any 1" straightener is just too small for how thick and curly my hair is. I think if you have fine, normal, or even semi-thick hair from straight to wavy, this product would be great for you. For me it took a little more effort, but that's what I'm used to. I also tried the Shine Shield heat protectant product. I did really like that because 1.) it had almost no smell, and 2.) it left my hair soft but not greasy.
I think the next straightener I'll try is a good ol' CHI iron. I've heard amazing things about that one, but still haven't had the opportunity to get one. I'm linking you to this particular site because they're having TONS of sales on their irons and blowdryers. If you're in the market to buy one, please check it out.

I Adore This GIVEAWAY!! Adore Me Lingerie Giveaway

I adore this giveaway because it's so different from any giveaway you'll find on a blog. I'm giving away a lingerie set from Adore Me which is the first lingerie website to offer personalized shopping that fits your style. If you've ever seen shoe or handbag subscription websites like shoedazzle.com, Adore Me works much in the same way. For $39.95 a month, you will get a showroom with a bunch of lingerie sets in it that are chosen for you based on your style. You get to choose 1 per month. They have on call stylists who are there to answer any questions you have, even questions about how it will fit. When you first sign up, you take a quick style quiz that analyzes your style. The best part, in my opinion, is that if you don't see something you don't like one month, you can skip it and you won't be charged! Considering 1 Victoria Secret bra is about $40 by itself, it's such a steal to get a whole lingerie set for about the same price!

Enter this giveaway for your chance to win a FREE lingerie set! Don't worry about the size, whoever wins will get to pick the style and size they'd like!

Rules:
- Answer this question in a comment below: What do you ADORE most about cosmetics? A random winner will be chosen.
- Must be subscribed to this blog to have a chance to win.
- Double your chance of winning by also tweeting and linking myself (@makeupartistLC) and Adore Me (@adoreme) in it.

This contest will close on 11/30/2011. Good luck!
