christmas cookies....SO good

Yesterday and the day before my 5 year old daughter and I made Christmas cookies -- Snickerdoodles, Sugar Cookies, and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

It was fun -- time consuming, but fun. They seriously are SO yummy too! I really wanted to share the recipes

Sugar Cookies:

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Directions

    1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
    2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
    3. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.

    Snickerdoodle Cookies:

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup butter, softened
    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2 tablespoons white sugar
    • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    • Directions

      1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
      2. Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, the eggs and the vanilla. Blend in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
      3. Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
      4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too hard. Remove immediately from baking sheets.

      Chocolate Chip Cookies:

      Ingredients

      • 1 cup butter, softened
      • 1/2 cup white sugar
      • 1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
      • 2 eggs
      • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
      • 3 cups all-purpose flour
      • 1 teaspoon baking soda
      • 2 teaspoons hot water
      • 1/2 teaspoon salt
      • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
      • Directions

        1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
        2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
        3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

Enjoy! I've already eaten 3 for breakfast so far :)
